Vincent van Gogh 

Post-impressionist painter, Vincent van Gogh’s dramatic use of color and passionate brush strokes was evident in his many works of art, but most notably in Starry Night.  Though in an asylum when he painted Starry Night in 1889 it is one of van Gogh’s most well-known paintings.  The bold and rhythmic images of the night sky with swirling clouds, the bright stars and a crescent moon continue to be replicated in modern culture on many consumer products.
